What ReaderTube is, and who it is for
A reading library for YouTube learning material: choose a video, read an overview and transcript, then mark it read or archive it. Saved highlights are part of Pro.
ReaderTube is a reading library for your YouTube videos and subscriptions. It is built for people who save talks, interviews, lectures or tutorials to learn from and would rather work through them in text.
The reading workflow
Choose a YouTube link or a video from connected channels and playlists. A Google connection may be required to retrieve video details. When content is available, start with the overview and open the transcript when the detail matters. Mark the item read or archive it after deciding what to keep.
With Pro, save passages as highlights attached to the reading so you can return to them. The how-it-works guide walks through that sequence. Processing depends on video availability and demand; some requests can wait or fail. A queue is not a finished summary.
Who it is for
ReaderTube is designed for engineers, product managers, researchers, students and self-directed learners who repeatedly learn from YouTube. You might be evaluating an explanation, reading an interview’s argument or studying a lecture at your own pace.
You can start with one relevant video. You do not need a particular number of subscriptions or a particular notes app. If watching the original video suits your task, keep watching it; a summary is an aid to deciding where to spend attention.
Finding and keeping material
Library search finds videos, channels and playlists. It helps you locate a reading by its title or source; it does not search across transcript passages. Once you find an item, open the transcript and read the surrounding context.
Saved highlights are part of Pro. We do not promise exports to another notes app or automatic synchronization. Other tools also offer libraries and highlighting: compare the workflow you need, rather than assuming those features are exclusive. Our dated Glasp comparison explains the source and limits of its comparison.
Faithful, Calm, Portable
Faithful. Use the overview as a guide and check important details against the transcript and original video. Generated summaries and transcripts can contain mistakes.
Calm. Read at the depth your question needs, then mark the item read or archive it. The goal is a useful reading routine.
Portable. Keep the original source with the ideas you record in your own notes. This value is not a promise of a shipped export or integration.
Before you create an account
Try the practical saved-video method with a video you already want to learn from. The public example page reports its current approval state; no approved example is published yet.
Current Free and Pro web terms are on the homepage pricing section. Signed-in readers can use subscription settings. The web offer does not establish paid access or syncing across other devices.
