ReaderTube Chrome extension
The extension saves the YouTube video you are watching to your ReaderTube Saved Videos in one click, so you can read it later on reader.tube.
Install
- Install “Save to ReaderTube” from the Chrome Web Store and choose Add to Chrome.
- Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon in the Chrome toolbar and pin ReaderTube so its button is always visible.
- Sign in to reader.tube in the same Chrome profile. A free account is enough.
- The extension uses that sign-in. It has no separate password and never asks for one.
Save a video to Saved Videos
- Open a video on youtube.com. The ReaderTube button shows a small “+” badge on video pages.
- Click the ReaderTube button. The popup shows the video's title and thumbnail.
- Click Save video. When you see “Saved to your ReaderTube Saved Videos”, the video is in your library.
Frequently asked questions
The extension asks me to sign in, but I am already signed in.
The extension uses your reader.tube sign-in from the same Chrome profile. Open reader.tube in a tab of that profile so your session refreshes, then click the extension again. If you use several Chrome profiles, sign in to reader.tube in the one where the extension is installed.
It says to open a YouTube video, but I am on YouTube.
The extension saves standard video pages, whose address looks like youtube.com/watch?v=…. Open the video on its own page (not the home feed, a channel page, Shorts or an embedded player) and try again.
Can I choose which playlist a video is saved to?
Not from the extension. Every video you save goes to the “Saved Videos” playlist in your ReaderTube library. You can read it, archive it or move it from there.
Where do saved videos appear?
In the “Saved Videos” playlist of your ReaderTube library. Open a saved video there to read it. Processing depends on availability, and the library shows its current status.
What data does the extension access?
Only the address and title of the YouTube video you are on, and your reader.tube sign-in session to authorise the save. It sends the video address to reader.tube when you click Save and nothing else. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do I remove the extension?
Open chrome://extensions, find ReaderTube and choose Remove. Videos you already saved stay in your ReaderTube account.
How do I manage my subscription or delete my account data?
Manage your plan in Settings. To delete your account data and stored copies, email support@reader.tube from the address you sign in with.
